Hello! Remember me? I'm still sort of here! I have not given up on my Gargoyles re-watch, I swear. But because of an ongoing issue with my vision (My corneas are inflamed and also warped. I didn't even know that was a thing. WARPED CORNEAS! Possible band name?) I've had to limit my looking-at-a-screen-time, not to mention that I'm not allowed to wear my contacts at all, so I have to rely on my all-but-worthless glasses, with their woefully out of date prescription. I'm halfway blind at the moment, so there's a built in excuse for any typoes that I might be making right now. Bright side!
This is all massively inconvenient, of course, and more than a little scary, but my eyes should heal in time ("rehabilitated" the optimetrist said. Let us all hope my corneas are not recidivists.) and, like I said, I fully intend to continue with the rewatch, though I don't know when. Watch this space, I guess.
So to my Gargoyles-loving friends; Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and/or an excellent Winter Soltice to you!

I Am Lame
Literally, since I twisted my ankle yesterday morning while running around with the dogs doing something undefined but badass. This may not seem like a good excuse for procrastinating with my still-unfinished "City of Stone" review, since most people don't type with their ankles (though I bet there's some weirdo contortionist out there that can), but waaah, I am a big baby and it hurts and I just want to lay around and watch TV and play Candy Crush and not think or write about things.
It's coming, though. Truthfully, I was having a hard time, since this four-parter was really amazing and I want to do it justice and I was (am) still a little flummoxed on how to write about it and blah blah blah no-one-cares-about-my-so-called-"process." I will finish, if for no other reason than I want to keep watching the DVD's (I review each episode before watching the next). So watch for that, sometime this week.
Also, in other amazing-TV-show news - JESSE PINKMAN IS ALIVE AND FREE, THANK FUCKING GOD. Whew.

UPDATE
The Gargoyles reviews will be delayed for maybe another week, since I just now ordered the DVDs and I'm waiting for them to be shipped. Amazon has Season 2 Volume 1 for $13.29, plus shipping, which is more than reasonable.
Volume 2, on the other hand? $47.39.
Look, I love Gargoyles, and I realize it apparently took years to even get a Volume 2, and I don't begrudge anyone the chance to complete their DVD collections (I'm a completist myself), but goddamn. I can't afford that. So after "Monsters" I'll be back to youtube-ing it.

It Was Probably That Dead, Rotting Bird
The review for "Eye of the Beholder" should have gone up last night or this morning, but will be delayed until sometime this week. Blame my dog Molly. I had watched about half the episode yesterday when she decided to get sick and almost die. Probably for attention.
I'll spare y'all the (disgusting) details, but after a trip to the vet, the official diagnosis seems to be: Dog Probably Ate Something Nasty; Incurable Stupidity. She'll hopefully be home tomorrow and is expected to recover fully. I, who remembers the vet bill from the last time when the other dog did the same damn thing, am not.
Still, I may be eating ramen and mac & cheese for the foreseeable future, but Miss Molly will be there to obnoxiously beg from me, which is all to the good.

Why My Mom is Awesome
We met for breakfast this morning, and even though I was trying for cheerful, she could sense that I was feeling down; so as we were waiting for the waitress to ring up the check, she looked straight at me and said, "I know what, let's go across the street and I'll buy you some new books!"

Number One Gargoyle Antagonist?
I'm working on the rest of the "Awakening, Part Two" recap, promise, but in the meantime, check this out:
The A.V. Club interviews Jonathan Frakes.
He mentions Xanatos and Gargoyles!

Gargoyles: " Awakening, Part One"
Welcome to the inaugural outing of my new project - recapping my way through my absolute favorite animated show (possibly the best of all time) - Gargoyles! I adored this show as a kid and I am so looking forward to revisiting it as an adult. So, without further ado, let's jump into the first part of the epic five-part series opener:
